Two South Island couples have well and truly beaten the winter blues by winning the holiday of a lifetime with Harcourts.

David and Susan Lewis of Kaikoura will be flying to the tropical Maldives, and Queenstown’s Dave and Lucy Williams are currently planning their trip to Santorini, Greece.

People living in the South Island, excluding Christchurch, who listed their property to sell with Harcourts before the end of July went in the draw to win. Both prizes include return premium economy flights and five nights of luxury four-star accommodation for two.

David and Susan Lewis had the Maldives on their “bucket list”, but didn’t expect to be able to fulfil their dream due to the distance and cost of the trip.

“It’s always been somewhere we’ve wanted to go, so when Janice (Dreaver of Harcourts Kaikoura) called to say we’d won, we just couldn’t believe it,” Susan says.

It comes after a tough few months for the couple, having experienced the devastating Kaikoura earthquake late last year.

“We are over the moon. This kind of thing never happens to us! I think the most I’ve ever won is a meat pack in a raffle,” Susan says.

David and Lucy Williams went to Santorini on their honeymoon in 2010 and promised each other they would return for their tenth wedding anniversary.

“We’ll be returning just a little early! We were so excited to receive the call from Geoff (Stevens from Harcourts Queenstown). We never win anything,” Lucy says.

Harcourts marketing manager Brittany Snelgar says the Harcourts South Island team wanted to encourage people to consider listing during winter, rather than waiting for spring.

“We thought asking people to picture themselves lying on the white sand beaches of the tropical Maldives or sipping ouzo while watching the sunset over Santorini’s blue rooftops was a way to break the winter rut.

“Congratulations to both couples. Have a wonderful time in the sun on Harcourts and then come back to a new beginning in New Zealand!”
