The deadline for the Healthy Homes Compliance Statement has been extended to 1 December, but even with the extension, landlords must continue to collect the information required with urgency in order to complete the compliance statement for all rental properties and make a plan to meet the standards.

REINZ succeeds in campaigning for Healthy Homes deadline extension

After months of lobbying the Associate Minister and officials for an extension to the 1 July Healthy Homes deadline, we are delighted to advise that REINZ has been successful in their campaign and the Minister has confirmed that the Compliance Statement deadline has been pushed out until 1 December 2020.

Tenancy Termination Restrictions End

The emergency provisions relating to the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 came to an end on 25 June 2020. This means that the usual termination rules apply from 26 June 2020.

Healthy homes compliance date – 1 July 2020

From 1 July 2020 landlords must include a statement of their current level of compliance with the healthy homes standards in any new, varied or renewed tenancy agreement.

The Minister of Finance announced on 23rd March 2020 a freeze on rent increases and an extension of no-cause terminations. This has been applied as law through the COVID-19 Response (Urgent Management Measures) Amendment Act and applied from 26th March 2020.

What does Level 3 mean for Property Management?
