Coromandel Community To Benefit From Harcourts Gold Star Real Estate Foundation Grants

Coromandel trainee drivers, a playcentre and the Thames Coast Community Kindergarten are three recent recipients of Harcourts Foundation grants, announced by Gold Star Real Estate today.

The grants – together worth more than $6,800 – will be used to train local job-ready people how to drive, provide safety mats for pre-schoolers at Parawai Playcentre and supply much-needed blinds to keep kindergarten children warm and secure.

Gold Star Realty business owners Greg and Mel Sheppard say they are thrilled to announce the new grants, which showcase the company’s commitment to local communities and giving back to their customer base.

“We had many requests this quarter for funding, but these three projects stood out in terms of benefit to local people,” the Sheppards say.

“Any community group in the area that needs funding for projects should consider applying through the Harcourts Foundation. It is hugely satisfying for us to be able to provide much-needed funds to make wishes become reality.”

Thirty local people without driver’s licences and with limited means will be trained by the Thames Community Centre, using mentor instructors from the business community to not only teach driving but make lasting and influential relationships on the path to employment. The Sheppards say they are pleased to assist local people to drive legally and safely, gain a useful job skill and be work-ready for local employment.

Parawai Playcentre in Thames has been operating with falling-apart foam mattresses being used as safety mats for tamariki for some time. The Harcourts Foundation funding will provide proper safety equipment to protect children and assist them to explore and learn in a secure environment.

New window blinds at Thames Coast Community Kindergarten will help keep the facility warm for children and staff. “These window coverings are also urgently required to act as mandatory security coverings during emergency lockdown situations,” the Sheppards say.

The Harcourts Foundation provides support to hundreds of organisations across New Zealand, enriching the lives of thousands of people in the community.
